Our webhost is currently being upgraded from a VPS to a Dedicated host. During this time the Forums, Control Panel & Patcher are offline for about 24 hours.

Server Status

It appears our host is currently having network technical difficulties which is the reason behind the server downtime. I have submited a ticket and the hosting company will check it out as soon as possible, not much I can do from here unfortunately.

(for those interested WoE will not be extended)

I have also noticed that the server is crashing more often now so I will try to figure out what's causing the constant disconnections. Battlegrounds freeze is still being investigated so if you have any idea what is causing the freezes please contact the staff asap. We will attempt a source code update as well as a new client over the next week or so to see if it fixes the freezing in BG and the client-skill delay.

Sorry for the inconveniences!

Illegally Obtained Items and Punishments

Illegally obtained items are defined in this server as "having an item or a quantity of item(s) that you cannot get normally and/or have excess of."

What this means is if you have an item that you cannot normally get in this server, such as Aspersio Scrolls, you will be banned in accordance to Rule 1, which illegal items falls under. This does not go for items that were once available, such as the Dragoon Lance.

However, in light of recent cases, I've decided to grant a leniency period for everyone to dispose of any items they might have. At the end of this period, I will have a db search done to see who has these items and ban them.

In short, if you have any of the two below items after this Sunday, 11:59 PM PST, you will be banned:

-Aspersio Scroll (and/or assorted Aspersio Scroll Boxes)
-Token of Sigfried

Please get rid of these items should you have them in your inventory/storage. Also, do note that if your way of getting rid of them involves using them in PVP, you will be permabanned under Rule 1 anyway.

That's your PSA for tonight, folks. Happy gaming!

This will probably be put on the patch later at some point, but it never hurts to download it now.

Rule Update -- 4/10/12

Hey there, everyone. It's about time for another update on our list of rules to address some recent issues.

The rule list is right here.

Rule 3 now has another provision:

Quote

3b. Attempting to sell items for real money on other venues of communication (ie: Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is illegal and will get you banned.
Punishment: Permanent Ban

This one should go without saying. If you're attempting to use Facebook, Twitter, or some other online platform to sell your stuff for real money, you will be banned. Just because you use Facebook to conduct these types of deals does not mean you sidestep the punishment since it technically wasn't on our server; it's still the same thing. Please note that, if caught, ALL your connected accounts will be banned without notice.

We have already been punishing Facebook RMT deals, so consider this rule a retroactive addition.

New rule: Rule 22:

Quote

22. No dueling in the main town (Caspen) or any sort of PVP. There are other towns to do this sort of thing.
Punishment: All offenses: 30 minute jail if online. If you hop, you get banned for two days.

Self-explanatory. This one is well-known to most members, but it helps putting it in writing. No dueling in the main town, or using @pvpmode. Not everyone wants to see people beating each other up, and frankly, it's quite distracting. There's other towns to duel.

New Rule: Rule 23:

Quote

23. You may only donate to your main account. Donating to alternate accounts other than your main is a serious offense which will result in a permanent ban of all accounts & your donation being refunded.

This is probably the biggest rule change. You may only donate to your main account from now on; no more donating to alternate accounts or donating for other people. This rule is easily traceable as well, since all HaZe has to do is look at the accounts before banning. Above all else, there is no flexibility in this rule; donating to an account other than your own = all your accounts perma-banned. This is non-negotiable.

Given this new rule, the previous rule 20, which dealt with "donation services", has been expunged and is no longer in effect. Suffice to say, donation services are now illegal in-game/out of the game (such as Facebook, etc.) as well, and players offering them will be banned under this new rule.

EDIT:

Clarification from HaZe:

Quote

You can donate to your main account with different credit card as long as they are registered to the same address. I don't understand why anyone would want to donate to an "alt" account other than because maybe they are using a stolen credit card and do not want their main account to be traced. By Alt account I mean an account with 1 novice character or an account that is obviously not anybody's main account and I have many ways to check if its a main or not.

Rule Clarifications:

Now that the new rules are out of the way, I'll take a moment to clarify some existing rules further.

Quote

18. If you loan out items or equips, you do so at your own risk. If you loan out items to someone and they keep the items, do NOT ask a GM to get them back for you.

It seems that with each rule update, I'll always be clarifying this rule again and again.

This rule exists for two reasons: to absolve the GM team of liability should something of this nature happen and to protect players from malicious scammers. There have been many cases where someone takes something and the other player wants the GM team to replace it. This is not possible because the inherent risk of it being a duplication scam. Not only that, it's also possible the player is just complaining so the other person gets banned. Because of this reason, we do not take action in these cases.

This rule extends to cases where someone gives their account info to someone and that person promptly takes all the items off that account and/or deletes the characters. These situations are largely the same because the person chose to give out their info. In cases like these, we do not ban or demand the items back since it is mostly the player's fault for giving out the info in the first place, which the game tells you not to do.

In addition, unless it is proven that someone else that couldn't have gotten the information got onto the account, we do not release details of the IP/account/player that was on it. Take this as a warning to be careful in who you trust.

Quote

21. Abuse of the broadcast NPC is strictly forbidden. Abuse here is defined as "using it for anything other than its intended function (buying/selling/trading/rgm/paging player or gm)".
Punishment: All offenses: 30 minute jail if online. If you hop, you get banned for two days.

Broadcast abuse has died down slightly, but it's still there. Anything that doesn't have to do with the listed functions within the NPC will be considered abuse and will be punished if someone spots it.

Additionally, I would like to urge our members to remember that this is an English-language server, and thus we would like it if all broadcasts were made in English. This is mostly for convenience's sake, since it is sometimes difficult to see what someone is saying if it is in a different language, which makes it hard to punish if they really are doing something against the rules. While it isn't specifically a rule (yet, at least), we would very much appreciate it if english broadcasts were made more often.

----------------------------------------------------------

That should be most of the rules. Please read them over for anything else that might concern you, and remember that the GM team reserves the right to dole out punishments based on their discretion.

If you have any questions, please post them in this topic.
